Yashita wins gold in World Chess Solving Cup

Odisha youngster Yashita Rout won gold medal in girls’ under-8 age group of the World Chess Solving Cup Tournament at Batumi in Georgia on October 25, 2016. This competition was a side event of the World Cadet Chess Championship, where Yashita finished 16th with seven points from 11 rounds. She won six games, drew two and lost three.

Yashita added 24 points to her Elo Rating which now stands at 1105. Standard-II student of Loyala School, Bhubaneswar, Yashita is the daughter of TCS software engineer Balaram Rout and Rajashree Singh.

Yashita qualified for the World Cadet Championship by winning the silver medal in the National U-7 Chess Championship last year at Chennai.
